TRADITIONS - 2nd Annual AAPI

TRADITIONS - 2nd Annual AAPI Group Show

TRADITIONS: 2nd Annual AAPI Group Show weaves a story of the AAPI experience. TRADITIONS honors the experience of melting multiple cultural traditions mixed in with our own familial traditions that shaped our individual but collective experience in modern America. We asked over 40 artists from the AAPI community to create works sharing “traditional” Asian/Native traditions, AAPI/melting pot traditions, or even just their family specific traditions through their artwork.

Traditions, even collective traditions are a very personal experience. It’s things you learned from your pita jee and mama, passed down from your halmeoni and lolo, it’s part of your identity, it’s what makes you unique to you. It’s your family, your friends, your experiences; influencing who you become and ultimately becoming the foundation of who you are.

Especially in a time where violence against AAPI, especially amongst the elderly within the community are staggeringly on the rise, it is more important now more than ever to normalize AAPI stories as an inherent American experience. In an effort to support the community and combat hate crimes against AAPI, 15% of all artwork sales from the show, TRADITIONS will be donated to #StopAAPIHate. Stop AAPI Hate is an organization that stands united against racism against the AAPI community by collecting reports of hate crime incidents against AAPI throughout the country.

TRADITIONS is filled with a collective but vastly diverse view of unique perspectives told by the people who live them. The show is an immersive and intimate experience in learning and relating to the different but similarities in our traditions, regardless of background told thru the eyes, hands, and hearts of the talented AAPI artists involved in TRADITIONS.

Support art through culture, and be cultured through art.

TRADITIONS: 2nd Annual AAPI Group Show – is meant to educate, share, normalize, and celebrate. Join us and over 40 AAPI Artists at Ewkuks Gallery for the Opening Day of “TRADITIONS” – New Works and Prints!
