Instant Gratification: a solo exhibition by Ladie One
Opening Day - Saturday October 10th - 3pm to 8pm

A show three years in the making, “Instant Gratification” is Ladie One’s First Solo Exhibition featuring 3 years of her work that has accumulated into this unique show.  In addition to honing her style during this time to showcase her original canvas pieces, Ladie One has also spent the last 3 years travelling the globe, painting and documenting her murals and graffiti with Polaroids as a keepsake.  These framed Polaroids exhibit her travels and the progression of her style during this journey.

Instant Gratification encompasses the irony of the immediate photograph versus the planning and time that goes into actually painting a piece on a wall.  A representation of life, the show highlights the lack of credit people receive for the trials, tribulations, and hard work that goes into doing something. A skill set is oftentimes the cumulative effort of all the hard work, failing, sacrifices, and creation of opportunities.  Life is not a Polaroid; nothing happens in an instant – it’s a perfect mixture of divine timing and hard work.

Ladie One entered the culture through Hip-Hop in 2003 in Miami, FL where she started writing graffiti; she delved into other aspects of the culture and started getting into breakdancing a few years thereafter.  Initiated into one of the most respected all-female hip-hop dance crews, “Heartbreakerz” in 2010, Ladie had started to make a name for herself in the culture travelling the world to paint, teach, compete, and judge competitions.

Chosen as 1 of 10 artists nationwide for the first ever Reality TV show about Street Art and Graffiti Artists, Ladie One became a part of the TV show, “Street Art Throwdown” in 2015, airing on Oxygen and Bravo.  After making it pretty far on that show, Ladie One was one of the four cast members painted for the 2015 SuperBowl Halftime show.  Since, she has painted for music videos, commercials, TV shows, films, as well as commercial gigs for companies like T-Mobile, Netflix, etc.  Ladie One has also been highlighted by Red Bull for her dance and artwork; she has also been featured on LA Street Art Gallery for her contributions to the mural scene in LA.  In July 2016 Ladie One was a featured artist for ComicCon and an exclusive Warner Brothers party in San Diego, CA.  She has been featured in many art shows, galleries, expos, and continues to spread her love for her art and dance through workshops, and Arts Envoy Programs worldwide teaching kids and adults of all ages.

Since her big move to Los Angeles, Ladie has become a full-time entrepreneur making a living on her art and dance. She is now the newest and youngest member of the legendary NYC graffiti crew “Fame City Kings.”

Her paintings on display will exhibit how she views the world through the transformation period of accumulating these Polaroids.  This transformation of her style will be showcased in Ladie’s NEW Series of paintings – “Graffiti + Flowers” will be the centerpieces of Instant Gratification.

As this is an in-person art show during a global pandemic, in order to ensure the health and safety of you, the artist, and us… this show will mainly take place during normal daily business hours with a slightly extended viewing time. The show will also be a first-come-first-in entrance along with mandatory properly worn masks/face coverings, social distancing indoors and in-line outside, 6 person maximum indoors at one given time, and a 15 mins viewing time.  A Virtual Show will also be provided online after Opening Day.
